BIOGRAPHIE EN FRANCAIS Les Washington Dead Cats apparaissent en 1984 comme une météorite dans un paysage musical où le rock gothique tendance suicidaire à la Virgin Prunes côtoie une New Wave toute habillée de noir à la Joy Division.
Mêlant rockabilly, surf music, rock garage, grigri vaudou et l'énergie du Punk rock « les Wash » déboulent sur scène en inondant leur public de farine, poireaux et salades, transformant toutes les salles de concerts en champ de bataille. La notoriété du groupe s'accroît très rapidement.
A peine deux ans après leur début, ils sortent un premier album dédié au rocknroll et aux dieux légumes, «Go vegetables Go ! », jouent à l'Élysée Montmartre devant 1 500 personnes, ravagent plusieurs plateaux TV (canal +, la 5..), se font interdire de concerts dans certaines villes, asseyant ainsi une réputation de groupe imprévisible et sans concessions.
Leur implication dans la scène punk et ses revendications sociales les conduit à signer sur Bondage records, devenant ainsi un groupe incontournable de la jeune scène alternative.
Ils enchaînent les tournées et en 1988 sortent leur deuxième album, « Gore a Billy Boogie », jouent deux soirs au Bataclan (3200 personnes) et en Angleterre ou en Hollande dans les premiers festivals psychobilly. Leur énergie punkabilly les rapprochent de cette scène européenne en pleine explosion.
Lhistoire continue jusquen 1991 et après quatre albums et 600 concerts, ils décident darrêter pour se consacrer à dautres projets musicaux. Le chanteur Mat Firehair et le batteur Seaweedyo montent le label « Made In Heaven », rééditent les 101 ers (premier groupe de Joe strummer) et signent de jeunes groupes dont « Les Snails ».
Méfiez vous les chats morts ont plusieurs vies ! En 2001, les W.D.C se retrouvent et Lord Fester, guitariste et chanteur des défunts Snails , rejoint le groupe pour quelques concerts de soutien. En 2004 sort lalbum « Treat me bad », suivi du cinq titres « Lady Satana v/s super héros » et de lalbum « El Diablo is Back ! » en 2006. Ils enchaînent 400 dates en Europe.
En juin 2006, après quatre Maroquinerie « sold out », les Washington dead Cats décident de samuser et montent une revue burlesque avec Juliette Dragon, « La flamme fatale ».
Ce concert unique « Live in the City of Sins » sera filmé et sort en 2008 sur un Dvd (de 3 heures au total) accompagné dun best of Cd de 23 titres intitulé « A good cat is a dead cat ».
Les images parlent delles-mêmes : un groupe énergique et imprévisible, généreux et attachant.
A la fin de la tournée « a good cat is a dead cat » le groupe organise en novembre 2009 sur 4 jours à Paris le « Treat me bad Festival » dans le cadre duquel une soirée est consacrée aux Cramps.
Ils décident de reprendre 8 chansons des Cramps et dautres artistes obscurs, dont les Cramps ont fait des covers pour la réalisation dun album 25 cm en vynil rose intitulé « For the love of Ivy ».
Comme à leur habitude, ils nous offrent un disque emprunt dune folie et dune rage sensuelle qui est lâme même du rocknroll. Lalbum le plus sauvage de leur carrière, sur lequel ils expriment leur incroyable énergie.
ENGLISH BIOGRAPHY The WDC appear in 1984 like a meteorite on the musical scene where Gothic Rock with suicidal tendencies such as Virgin Prunes encounters a new wave, clad in black, such as Joys Division, mixing Rockabilly, Surf Music, Rock Garage, Voodoo Charm and the energy of Punk Rock.
The WDC invade the stages covering their public with flour, leeks and lettuce leaves, turning the whole venue into a battle field.
The band becomes quickly famous and just 2 years after their formation they release their 1st album dedicated to Rock n Roll and the vegetable Gods entitled
"Go vegetables Go !".
They perform at the Elysee Montmatre in front of 1500 fans, ravage several TV programmes (Canal +, TV 5), get banned from playing in certain towns and get a reputation for being unpredictable and without concession.
Their implication in the Punk scene and their social and political claims lead the WDC to signing with Bondage records becoming the in band on the alternative rock scene.
They go on tours and in 1988 release their 2nd album "Gore a Billy Boogie !".
They play 2 nights running in the Bataclan and in the UK and Holland in the first Psycobilly festivals. Their Punkabilly energy leads them to the exploding European scene which, at this time, is in full swing..
The story continues until 1991 and after 4 albums and 500 to 600 live performances, they decide to take a break to put their energy into other musical projects.
The singer, Mat Firehair and the drummer Seaweed Yo start a new label called "Made in Heaven" re-editioning the 101ers ( Joe Strummers 1st band ) and sign young bands such as The Snails.
Be careful!! Dead cats have many lives! In 2001 the WDC get back together and Lord Fester, the guitarist and singer of the Snails joins them for several concerts. In 2004 the album Treat me bad is released followed by a 5 titled EP Lady Santana v/s super hero and the album El Diablo is Back. They carry on performing concert after concert (400 concerts during that period) in Europe until 2007.
In 2006 after 4 sold out concerts at the Maroquinerie the WDC decide to have some fun and create a comical revue with Juliette Dragon the fatal flame. This unique concert Live in the city of sinsis filmed and released in 2008 on a DVD including the integrality of the cheapest video clips ever in the history of rock, a photo gallery, the album El Diabolo is back in 5.1, posters of Mat Firehair,a concert at the Elysee Montmartre in 1989.a total of 3 hrs.
It is accompanied by a «best of" with 23 titles including 5 unpublished. The visuals speak for themselves: a band full of energy, unpredictable, generous and very fascinating. They are not a combo rock n roll, they ARE rock n roll!

Washington Dead Cats / for the love of Ivy
In these hard times when records no longer sell, (So say the major record companies) best not to forget where we are from and who we are!
Guided by this principle, the WDC realise a 25cm, limited edition, pink vinyl entitled: For the Love of Ivy... on which appears 8 titles of the Cramps and other obscure artists that the Cramps have covered.
Although the musical influences of the WDC are vast, they have always been close to those of the Crampsrockabilly cryptic, rock garage 60s atomic, obscure country, exotica or even torrid blues, all played with punk energy.
The band has often claimed the influence of the Cramps but more for the creation of an original and personalised universe than for their musical influence.
Just as Tarantino does with the cinema adapting different kinds of themes into his own personal style.
Just as the Cramps have copied, covered and robbed a good number of bands with respect, the WDC take pleasure in covering their songs today. As usual this album offers a little madness and sensual rage which is, of course, the soul of rock n roll.
This album is the wildest of their whole career, on which they express their incredible energy.
